Living to be Known: About Assumptions (follow up post)

Hey Y'all out there in the World, Thanks for being here. I'm going to get right into the thought train about Assumptions. And how quickly of a death assumptions are... Death of what your asking?

Assumptions are the death of great principles and practices in life.

I am not your mediator in this conversation. I use assumption negatively. Let me begin.

When was the last time assuming worked for you? How did it all pan out?
I will define assume as the root word for you so that you understand the point from which I am speaking. Now, I don't claim to know too much. I don't actually think I'm that smart. But when I focused on the fact that ASSUME meant: to think that something is true or probably true without knowing that it is true. Man, I felt the blow.

Now we've all done it and we all do it. So I'm not here to point any fingers at anyone but myself. And I do hope that you are considering the things you assume to be true and look into whether or not the assumptions we've been making are true. And I haven't even started yet...haha  but you know how that goes right.

Can we be real for a moment please? Can we try to be objective? Can we examine some truth if there's truth to be seen? Yes.

Unfortunately , I do believe that in 2016, with all the tech, and instant digital access to information and tools, that it is easy to form an opinion and send it out to the masses...i.e. memes on facebook or words on twitter...

Now we all have a common theme in the fact that if we grew up around any other people, we had to assume that what we were told was true. As children we are taught, and that is all we know. As we grew older we formed relationships that directly influenced us. We might say we came to like, trust, accept, admire, follow and join some of these people in life where things became common and we knew each other to the point, that based off of what we knew and seen from each other, that we could assume for each other what is or isn't ok or acceptable. But then we get comfortable, and begin to assume that everything will happen as we think. Because we think we know better. But based on the definition we don't know at all.

This is why assumptions are such a quick death. We sometimes make strategic conscious decisions based on assumptions, and then panic when the outcome is different. Then delving into an instinct of self preservation that takes no time to humbly admit fault or be corrected until the damage is already done. And it happens in an instant.

Almost immediately one then has to try and navigate through the pile of crap that was just planted between them even though "it's too late to go back and change the story or meaning now." Then the apologies start. And unless we are willing to lovingly forgive and talk out and move forward, it becomes a splinter in the middle finger of a piano jazz player.

And all this for What? Because one person was too afraid to ask, take a moment to consider, listen to, research or just plain wait; until they knew something true, before acting on something they DID NOT know was true.

You see, we're all more alike than we like to think. But of course I may just be assuming that.

So what now? I'll be quick.

Living to be Known as the topic. How are you Living to be Known? As someone who's always making and living based on assumptions? Or or someone who does not need to!

The Belief that assumptions are not true and Knowledge that there is a better way to find out that truth. Practice asking questions that lead to the truth so that they can foster the best relationships. Relationships that Communicate what is true in a healthy way. As for finances though, don't assume you know the character of a man based on what he has rather than who he is.

I LOVE YOU GUYS OUT THERE. HOLLA BACK.  its ya boy

We Are Going to Honduras!

Hey Everyone, Me and Jamie are going to Honduras. We still need some support. So here is the support Letter. Let me know if you want updates as things come along and after. Thanks Guys. Love Yall. Keep reading...

Honduras Mission

Four years ago I was asked if I wanted to go to Kisumu, Kenya to work along side Christ’s Hope International, who’s mission is, “Bringing the life-changing message of Jesus Christ to people infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS through discipling and care giving, presenting them perfect in Christ Jesus.” We were all so blessed to walk, sit, talk and stand next to each other sharing our stories of life, the love of God and hope for a better tomorrow. I still think about it everyday. I still am in communication with friends there.

Today I am in need. And I am in need of the hardest thing to ask for once again; prayer and financial support.

This time, with your help, I will travel to Honduras, joining Christ Community Church, and serving with Hearts for Honduras. This will be a dental mission. Many will travel from far distances to come a receive care and aid. We will serve local families, their children and neighbors from surrounding areas.

How to Get Involved

  • Prayer – This is the most important way to get involved. Please pray for our team. Pray for our safety. Pray that our hearts are in the right place and that we not become easily distracted. Pray for the people we come into contact with. Pray for our patients and for their health.
  • Financial Support – If God has blessed you, and you are looking for an opportunity to bless others, please consider contributing financially to the team as we need resources for travel arrangements, food, and shelter. We also purchase supplies with any funds raised. Additionally, we like to bring stickers, footballs, and soccer ball for the kids.
  • Instructions for financial support on next page
  • Go! – There is never going to be a perfect timing. We all lead busy lives, have difficulties, or other commitments that we must prioritize. But if there is ever a time to question what to do, just act on it and go because you won’t regret it. Put life on hold for a week to love, learn and serve with purpose. Check out the Hearts to Honduras website (www.hth.org)

Thank You, for taking this moment to join me. For those who have supported me in the past, please know that you have been a part of the blessing in live of many, and I hope you would consider supporting me again. If this is a first for you! Thank You for becoming a part of the work because this wouldn’t be possible without you.

Then they can be specifically applied to me.

For manual checks, it will be the same. Checks can be made payable to Christ Community Church. You will indicate "Dental Mission Trip" in the memo section. DO NOT put my name in the comment section.
